Trial pit investigations in the Dorset heat today, ahead of foundations being poured in August. We were hunting for the transition depth in the Bridport Sands formation - where the soil turns from cohesive clay-like material to a much stronger and more stable granular material. Found it! We’ve been helping @fatleaf.co.uk with a new Modular building destined to be a Padel club house. Great to revisit one of the first CORD projects last week! CORD Structural Engineers are proud to announce that their Director, Jack Hawker, has been awarded the King’s Medal for Humanitarian Service in recognition of his role in the UK’s emergency response to the devastating Moroccan earthquakes. Jack received his medal at Aintree Racecourse, presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, Mark Blundell, along with Chief Fire Officer for Merseyside, Nick Searle QFSM. Great progress at this Dorset new build. We have used a steel frame at ground floor to create huge internal spaces and the stacked volumes. The first floor is timber frame with beautiful big openings facing down towards the coast. Weekend site visits Obsessed with the views from this in new house! We were called to inspect this 25m Chimney for stability after the owners noticed some damage We’ve been busy detailing steel connections for a new home.
